Donato Benincasa was the first scientist worldwide to promote theoretical physics in rural areas of Ecuador and Latin America. Through free talks and consultations, he encourages more children, teenagers, young people, and people of all ages in rural areas to become interested in research and innovation. Science is a multidisciplinary tool that is present in the daily lives of all human beings.

Donato Benincasa has established himself as a pioneering scientist in the field of theoretical physics in Ecuador. Through social media and digital platforms, but above all by traveling on foot to various rural villages, he promotes science in an innovative and accessible way, free of charge.

Through these channels, the scholar addresses topics such as robotics, mechatronics, bionics, electronics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, cybersecurity, quantum computing, nuclear medicine, and artificial intelligence, with the aim of promoting scientific research and technological development in the country.
He was born in the city of Quito, but grew up and lived his entire life in Alóag, in the canton of Mejía. Now, at 25 years of age, Donato is passionate about theoretical physics, which he was introduced to at the age of 15 and which he believes can help transform the lives of Ecuadorians.

In the province of Cotopaxi, Benincasa has led scientific literacy projects in rural areas, focusing particularly on artificial intelligence and theoretical physics. In collaboration with farmers, he has incorporated concepts of agrophysics to improve the quality of agricultural products, generating benefits for both producers and consumers. His vision is based on a clear premise: science is a multidisciplinary tool present in all areas of life and in every corner of the planet.
The consultations have sparked the interest of people of all ages, who see science as an opportunity to enhance their skills in areas such as economics, education, research, and culture.
“I provide science consultations for anyone who wants to learn and even apply this knowledge to their ventures,” he says.

The free consultations have been particularly useful in indigenous and rural communities in Cotopaxi, where farmers who work the land have indicated that, by applying the advice in practice, they have improved their crops.
The scientist points out that theoretical physics allows for the formulation of equations, laws, hypotheses, theories, and experiments that can even be applied to the business world. As he explains, this knowledge can even be used to design vaccines and medical treatments.

Among his most notable scientific projects, Benincasa has applied fundamental theories of physics, such as string theory, M-theory, loop quantum gravity, grand unification, Einstein’s relativity, quantum mechanics, and the standard model of particle physics. These tools have allowed him to analyze the workings of nature, planet Earth, and the universe with an innovative and educational approach.
One of his main focuses is scientific outreach. Through talks, publications, and educational meetings, Benincasa motivates children, teenagers, young people, and adults to explore complex concepts in theoretical physics, astrophysics, and cosmology.

In his presentations, he addresses fascinating topics such as black holes, wormholes, white holes, the Higgs boson, white and black dwarfs, dark matter, and quarks. He explains them in an educational way that surprises children.
In addition to his work in the field, the young man constantly visits schools, colleges, universities, laboratories, and companies to present his research and strengthen the relationship between science and society.

“Ecuador has enormous potential to become a scientific powerhouse if its human and technological resources are properly harnessed. But there is a shortage of scientists. My wish is for more children in the country to take an interest in science,” concludes the scientist.
