THE HAUNTED DIAMOND

In the town of Halfway, there was a group of friends Sofia, Santiago, and Lucia. They were always looking to experience new adventures, once they decided to go to the forest where it was known for having many treasures.

One day, they decided to play hide and seek in the forest, when the girls were looking for Santiago they found a mansion in the middle of the forest, that seemed interesting and strange, so they called their friend. The 3 of them decided to explore the house; when they entered the house they were surprised because there were strange things like old books, chests, skeletons, among other things. While they were going through the rooms they found a big trunk with a padlock, they wanted to open that trunk because they were very curious to know what was in there, but they couldn’t find the key, so they decided to break the padlock with an iron.

In the trunk there were many gems, gold and a black diamond and they were surprised to see that.

Sofia was fascinated with the diamond and wanted to take it, but Santiago told her it was a bad idea. Sofia insisted in wanting to take the diamond and her friend Lucia said «I don’t think it would hurt to take something from there». Santiago warned her that she could get in trouble for taking the diamond; Sofia pretended to agree with her friends, but she didn’t resist and took the diamond on the sly. But she did not know that the diamond was possessed by an evil spirit; Sofia told her friends that it was too late and she had to return home , out of desperation that her friends would not realize what she did, she took the wrong path and went deeper into the forest ; Little by little it was getting dark and it was difficult to see, she had not realized that the path she had taken was full of sharp rocks and she tripped hurting her ankle, Sofia screamed from the pain and asked for help; when she gave up she realized that the diamond was shattered and from it came out a bright light that illuminated the whole forest.

Lucia and Santiago were still in the forest mansion because they decided to continue exploring the mansion. After they finished exploring the whole mansion, Lucia went to get the book that was in the chest and realized that the diamond was gone. And she told Santiago that Sofia took the diamond, they went after Sofia to tell her to return the diamond.

Lucia and Santiago were on their way to Sofia’s house when they saw the forest light up and went to see what was going on; they were afraid to go into the forest, but something told them to go in there; and suddenly they heard a scream for help. As they went deeper into the forest, they were surprised to see their friend hurt on the ground and went over to help her.

They saw pieces of glass next to her, they thought someone attacked her; Santiago carried Sofia on his back to take her to his house, a few steps away she woke up, but she started to act strange; her friends asked her what had happened to her, but she did not answer. And suddenly she wanted to attack Lucia, they got scared and realized that their friend was possessed.

They took Sofia to her parents’ house to tell her what had happened; her parents took their daughter to the hospital to heal her wounds. Days later they realized that their daughter’s behavior was not normal and decided to take her to the church to help their daughter. The father was very scared and said that it was the devil’s doing, he did everything possible to cure Sofia, but it was not possible.

While all that was happening, Lucia was reading the book she had taken and found the secret of how to free Sofia from that evil being and return to normal; she went to tell her friend and Sofia’s parents about what she found in the book, they decided to do the ritual that the book indicated.

They got the materials to perform the ritual, the ritual consisted of drawing a circle on the floor and standing around it, then bringing the person who is possessed and putting them in the middle of the circle. Then they would pour a concoction on him and recite a melody that said «Evil spirit, come out, we offer you another body in which you can live.» They read in the book that they could trick the spirit and lock it forever in a mirror; so, they did that, they tricked the spirit by showing it a body next to them and the moment the spirit came out they locked it in a mirror, that made Lucia was gradually restored.

They kept the mirror in a locked chest and buried it in the cemetery so that no one else would find it. Sofia recovered little by little with the help of her friends and family, and she learned always listen to what she was told.
